Why do comments hurt so good?

Lifehacker, one of my favorite sites gives us a great example where the interactivity of the net/blogosphere is often more important than the original content itself.

Check this post out about a new website called Mobaganda. Sounds like an interesting site right? You probably get a handful of these cool websites passed to you all the time from your friends? Well I guarantee none of your friends can point out the five big gaping flaws that would keep me from using the site, as this commenter budusnak points out here in his post.

Now where else are you going to see the original content framed right up with the insightful comments? Are you going to write a letter to the editor and hope it shows up in next month’s issue of soon-to-be-defunct-monthly?

This is sort of the “wiki” way of life where the community can keep things in check. . .it obviously has its good points (fast, public, free, infinitely large breadth of knowledge, unbiased on the whole) and bad points (attracts spam, selective bias, and fire breathing loonies).
